Trace-level H2O measurement in natural gas
Molecular sieve dehydration is used to meet the stringent specifications for H2O concentration (< 0.1 ppm) in liquefied natural gas (LNG) feed gas. Performance of the molecular sieve dehydration system is an important factor in the efficient, uninterrupted operation of an LNG plant.
On-line monitoring of the H2O concentration in the outlet gas stream of a dryer vessel using a tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) analyzer provides real-time indication of adsorbent bed saturation and breakthrough, preventing gas with an elevated H2O content from reaching the liquefaction train. SpectraSensors’ SS2100 and SS2100i-2 analyzers have been optimized to measure H2O down to sub-ppm levels with outstanding availability and minimal OPEX cost.
