The DP Transmitter, most widely employed device for the purpose of level detection, is used to measure level as an inferential measurement, utilizing a technique which makes use of a differential pressure detector which is installed at the bottom of the tank whose level is to be detected. Advantages to the DP transmitter include, but are not limited to - cost efficiency, good accuracy over broad level measurement ranges, motion balance, and force balance.
