Flow Other Flow Elements

Flow Switch
Flow elements come in all different shapes, sizes and uses. Vector Controls & Automation Group is prepared to work with you to find the perfect flow element for your applications. Flow switches and transmitters are types of flow elements. A flow switch, a device that monitors the flow of air, steam or liquid, can perform specific functions based on need. It sends a "trip signal" to a different device in the system, such as a pump. The flow switch can indicate to the pump to shut off or to turn on. Some of the general uses of a flow switch are for pump protection, for cooling-circuit protection and alarms for too high or too low flow rates.

SOR flow switches have proven to be workhorses in the process instrumentation industry. They are ruggedly built to exacting standards and provide long-lasting service. SOR flow switches can be used in a wide range of pipe sizes and process configurations. Mechanical vane type switches are designed specifically for liquid process medias. Their electronic instruments can detect both liquid and gas process flow and are field selectable and adjustable.

Flow measurement done by an SOR differential pressure transmitter measures the pressure drop caused by an obstruction in a pipe which is normally created by a filter or primary element. As the flow of the process material goes through the obstruction, the pressure drops. This measurement can then be used to determine an accurate measurement of flow either in volumetric flow rate or mass flow rate.
