Cloud Point Analyzer

Cloud Point’s enhanced performance uses sophisticated proprietary technologies more reliable than those used in traditional cloud point analyzers. Typically used to measure diesel fuel, Cloud Point’s analysis measurement is achieved through a unique low mass-measuring cell, non-contact light source and proprietary vacuum insulation system detector for outstanding thermal performance – without the need for an external cooler. Two versions are available including a very low temperature “Cryo” version which uses technology used in the space industry for ultra-low cooling. In most cases, external chiller systems are not required, thus making the system ultra-reliable.

Icon’s advanced dispersive spectrometer module brings greater precision to the measurement of color, opacity or concentration. The icon Color Opacity analyzer actually scans the visible spectrum from 350 to 1100nm at a rate of 15 times per second. With this technology we are able to give both color and opacity simultaneously. We are also able to run complex mixtures of different products as we are able to pick out the particular wavelengths of interest. Color Opacity avoids the sensitivity losses and low transmission characteristics that compromise existing technologies using either optical filters or moving parts such as filter wheels and chopper motor assemblies.

Pour Point Analyzer

Icon’s Peltier cooling technology delivers exceptionally accurate and repeatable measurement results, in most cases without the requirement for chilled water. Control of lubes production is of vital importance, icon’s Pour Point analyzer enables the control of different blends, simply and efficiently. The analyzer is easily automatically re-ranged to enable the analysis of different products. Ultra-low temperature version is available using the cryocooler. Pour Point’s cooling system is housed in a unique patented, sealed containment vessel held under vacuum, which improves performance and eliminates condensation and ice formation. For maximum reassurance, detection systems monitor the vacuum and alert the user to any sample leakage.

Ethanol Blend Optimizer

The Ethanol Blend Optimizer is a unique patented system that uses precision engineered piston cylinder assemblies, rigidly mounted together and mechanically linked, to mix a combined BOB/ethanol sample flow to the analyzers in the required ratio at very high precision – better than± 0.05%. The complete system is mounted in a temperature-controlled cabinet. A concurrent heat exchanger and pressure control is provided on the inlet BOB sample and ethanol flows, to ensure they are the same temperature and pressure before mixing to maintain the highest possible accuracy. Safety features include leak detection in the cabinet that automatically isolates the BOB sample and ethanol inlet lines. The piston cylinders provide a very wide flow rangeability, without impacting precision, that is simply not possible with other mixing techniques.

Cetane Number Analyser

The Icon Cetane Number analyser provides refineries with quick and accurate cetane number measurements without the drawbacks of traditional CFR Engines or the issues associated with model-based chemometrics used in FTIR and Raman spectrometers, and works with both Diesel and Biodiesel products. It is the first and only online process analyser in the world to measure cetane number, and won the coveted ISA Analysis Division Innovation Award in its first year of launch. The analyser measurements correlate to all other ASTM cetane number methods such as D613, D6890, D7668, and include the effects of Cetane improvers thus enabling real-time control of a diesel blending plant. The analyser is also designed to be complimentary to lab-based cetane number measuring instruments thus making bias management more straightforward. The Icon Cetane Number analyser uses a constant volume combustion chamber with direct fuel injection into heated compressed air. A dynamic pressure wave is produced from the combustion of the sample from which ignition delay (ID) and combustion delay (CD) can be determined. Built-in equations allow for calibration curves using either one of ID or CD to predict a derived cetane number (DCN).
